Well done to City of Salisbury for staging a chilly but successful event. Thanks to all who took part and to the officials and marshals; it must have been somewhat uncomfortable!!
Grace Baker won the women's race to finish as second Woman overall and first Under 20 Woman for the season, and led Aldershot, Farnham & District to the Women's team title with a 100% success record. Ceri Mitchell and Lucy Elliott had already made sure of the Women's and Veteran Women's titles at Bournemouth and didn't run at Salisbury.
In the Under 17 Women's race, Frances Arnott (Southampton) won to secure third place overall, behind Basingstoke's Charlotte Chalwin and the host club's Alex Mundell who didn't need to compete. Reading AC won the team competition and remained the only club to complete all five Under 17 races. Hannah Knapton (Winchester & District) finished ahead of Daisy D'Santos (Aldershot, Farnham & District) as at Bournemouth, but Daisy's successes earlier in the season had already won her the Under 15 Girls' title.
Bridget Dence (Bournemouth) won for the third time this season in the Under 13 Girls' race to confirm her league victory, but Wimborne's Grace Copeland just beat Lucy Wildash (Basingstoke & Mid Hants) to take the silver medal. Aldershot, Farnham & District won the Under 15s' team race and finished high enough in the Under 13 Girls' event to claim both league team titles.
Martin Mashford (Aldershot, Farnham & District) won the Men's race, but team-mate Steve Connor in second place took the men's league title. Alan Murchison (Winchester & District) was first veteran to finish to secure the Veterans' title. City of Portsmouth athletes finished first and second in the Under 20s' section, but while Alex Teuten won the race it was Harry Carter who won the league title.
In the men's team competition, league winners Aldershot, Farnham & District were denied 100% success by Southampton in the Senior section but remained unbeaten in the Veteran league though they shared first place at Salisbury with Winchester & District. City of Portsmouth won in Senior Division 2 for the fifth time, while Eastleigh RC have been promoted as leaders of Veteran Division 2.
Under 17 champion Toby Smith (Aldershot, Farnham & District) won again, and Under 13 champion Piers Copeland (Wimborne) came home in second place behind Aldershot's Jack Boswell; Aldershot won both these team titles unbeaten. The Under 15 titles had still to be decided: George Butler won the race to pip Peter Ellis in the league, and they were both in the Southampton team which claimed the league trophies.

Popplewell Trophy 2011
Alan Coveney from Winchester and District A.C. was named as the first winner of the Popplewell Trophy at the AGM. The Trophy was to be presented to any official, runner, club member or parent helper who was considered to have contributed to the League in some way. It was named in honour of Maureen and John Popplewell, who had worked tirelessly for 25 years to build the League into its present form. Nominations were open from all affiliated clubs, and the winner decided by the Executive Committee.
Alan was chosen because of his commitment behind the scenes to ensure that Winchester's fixture at Farley Mount is a success. This he has done over countless seasons.
In accepting the Trophy from the Chairman, Ken Littlejohns, Alan commented that it was a team effort, but that he was proud to accept it on behalf of the WADAC team.
