The Sportshall League began in its current format in 2001. Four
separate team competitions are held for girls and boys in the Under 11 and
Under 13 age groups. 'Grand Prix' competitions are held for Under 15 girls and
Under 15 boys.
Dates have been booked for the 2008/2009 League matches and Championships
and are shown below. These have been selected as much due to facility
availability as to anything else. Exact start times will be published/confirmed
in plenty of time before each fixture.
It would be helpful if Team Managers could give an early indication of
interest (or not) in entering teams this season, and if so please confirm
gender and age group(s). The league joining fee will be £10 per team/per
age group (U11G/U11B/U13G/U13B/U15G/U15B) and invoices will be issued prior to
the start of the season. The match fee will remain at £2.00 for each
athlete (payable on day).
We plan to hold a team managers/organisers meeting to iron out a few details
on the evening of Friday 5 September, most probably at Eastleigh Leisure Centre
(exact details to be confirmed nearer time). Please could you make sure your
club/school sends a representative.
The County Sportshall Championships will held
on Sunday 15 March 2009 at Portsmouth. Normal entry qualification to the
Championships applies, i.e. all entrants must have Hampshire Qualifications by
a. birth or b. nine months continuous residence (Hampshire, IOW, Channel Isles)
prior to the date of the Championships. Minimum age on day of competition is 8
years.
This year, the Regional Finals have been expanded to include teams
from Kent, Surrey and Sussex, and they will both take place at The Olympos,
Burgess Hill, West Sussex. The confirmed dates are as follows:
Under 11s: Sunday 11 January
Under 13s and Under 15s: Sunday 8 February
The National Final takes place in April. These dates are still to be
confirmed by the Sportshall Association; we are unlikely to know for certain
until October.
Selected Under 11 athletes will be advised after Match 2 and Under 13s and
Under 15s will be advised after Match 3.
