Cross Country Championships
Saturday 9 January 2010
Cross-Country Championships added 7 January
It is with great regret, but no surprise, that Hampshire AA Executive
Committee and the Race organisers have jointly decided to cancel this year's
Cross-Country Championships on Saturday 9th January.
We are conscious of the many miles both athletes and officials will have to
travel in extreme road conditions to attend. The safety of athletes and
officials was paramount in making this decision.
We regret that the Championships cannot be held this year and look forward
to your support in 2011.
Hampshire Team selection
The County Championship forms the main criteria for achieving county
selection for the Inter Counties. Following the cancellation, Team Managers
will be basing team selection on performances by Hampshire athletes in the
Hampshire League races, performances in the South of England Inter-County Match
plus other notable performances such as the UK Cross Challenge.
Entry fees
After discussion with the County Treasurer, all entries' cheques will be
destroyed, and only cash payments returned personally. The cheques have not
been paid into the County's account, which will make it much easier for the
Secretary to deal with re-imbursements.
Championship Programme
To see what might have been, you can download the
Championship programme. Fortunately we were able to contact the printers,
Ashford Digital, before it went to press, and thanks to their cooperation we
avoided any unnecessary expenditure.
We were not alone ...
All other cross-country championships due to be held in the South of England
this weekend were also postponed or cancelled owing to the weather.
