Inter-Counties Matches

Hampshire representative teams have taken part in the following Inter-Counties Cross Country Matches and other representative matches during 2007/8:

UK Inter-Counties (Wollaton Park, Nottingham, 15 March)

Men's and Boys' results
Women's and Girls' results

Hampshire's women's and girls' teams performed particularly well at the UK Inter-Counties in Nottingham, though there were also good results for the men and boys.

Emma Pallant finished second in the Under 20 Women's race and, with Louise Small, Lorna Russell and Rebecca Gough all finishing in the top 13, Hampshire comfortably won the team gold. In the Under 13 Girls' event, Rebecca Knapton finished third, and top ten finishes for Danielle Leerson and Emily Alexander-High, supported by Jade Anderson-Busby, took Hampshire to the team trophy.

The Under 17 foursome of Louise Webb, Georgie Gair, Sarah Burgin and Laura Alexander-High gained second place for Hampshire behind Lancashire. Steady scoring took the Under 15 Girls into fifth place, while in the Senior race, Rachel Townend finished third, leading a depleted trio of Winchester athletes home.

In the Senior Men's race, Andy Vernon in fifth position and John Beattie in eighth led Lee Merrien, Ben Moreau, John Hutchins and team manager Tom Payn to the team silver. Third place for Phillip Berntsen among the Under 20 Men helped Hampshire into sixth position, a result matched by the Under 15 Boys team. The Under 17 Men competed well for an eleventh team place, while the Under 13s finished in a strong ninth position.
