Congratulations!Hampshire athletes excel at European Cross-Country ChampionshipsCongratulations to the Hampshire athletes who were selected to represent Great Britain at the European Cross Country Championships in Toro, Spain. Well done to Steph Twell who became the first junior to retain a European cross country title with a very impressive performance. Charlotte Purdue also ran well to take the bronze medal and along with Steph, formed part of the winning team. Congratulations also go to Andy Vernon who picked up bronze in the Under 23 Men's race, Andy also formed part of the winning team. In the Under 23 Women's race Susie Hignett ran well to finish in 19th place and also picked up a gold medal as part of the winning team. Louise Damen ran well in the Senior race, finishing in 34th place to pick up a silver medal as part of the second place team. Results
(link to European Athletics website) Hampshire success at SEAA Inter-Counties ChampionshipsOn the home front we also had success in the Inter Counties Championships at Parliament Hill. Congratulations to Martin Mashford who took the Senior Men's title. In the Senior Women's race Kath Bailey ran well for a third place with Karen Hazlitt in sixth place and Emma Patel in 15th, giving the Hampshire women's team a well deserved second place. The Under 20 Women's race was won by Emma Pallant, well done to Emma. Charlotte Bates also had a good run to finish in 7th place. Well done to Emily Alexander-High for her second place in the Under 13 Girls' race.
